Kruger National Park Accommodation:
The Kruger National
Park offers a wide variety of accommodation to the Eco Traveller,
not only in size, facilities and visual appearance, but also in price
range. In addition to the ten main restcamps with accommodation ranging
from huts and safari tents to 2/3 bed bungalows, family cottages
and luxury guest houses, there are also smaller bush lodges and bushveld
camps. Camping sites for caravans and tents are provided in nine
of the large and three of the smaller restcamps.
All
accommodation units are serviced daily and bedding, towels and soap
are provided. Most of the units have either air-conditioning or fans.
Visitors who are accommodated in units without cooking facilities
have to provide their own cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery.
Basic cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery are hired out to visitors
who have reserved accommodation in huts without these items, except
in bushveld camps and Berg-en-Dal and Mopani camps.
Barbecue and communal cooking facilities are available in all the
camps.
Adapted
accommodation equipped for paraplegics and other mobility impaired
persons is available at Berg-en-Dal, Crocodile Bridge, Lower Sabie, Skukuza, Satara, Olifants, Letaba, Mopani, Shingwedzi, Pretoriuskop and Tamboti.
The
different accommodation types and the camps they occur in include:

motorised caravan will be permitted per site. In the case of camping
with a small tent, more than one tent will be permitted on a site,
provided the maximum number of 6 persons is not exceeded. Some camps
will charge extra fees for additional vehicles, as space can be limited
in peak season. Most campsites are have sites equipped with power
points. Visitors may use generators from one hour after sunrise to
one hour before sunset only. Communal kitchen and ablution facilities
are available in all the camps. A communal freezer is available for
campers at Malelane, Balule and Maroela. Cooking utensils, crockery and

facilities. Cooking utensils, cutlery and crockery are not provided

crockery and cutlery.

Safari tents are equipped with beds, a cupboard, table and
chairs, fridge and electric fan. Those in Marakele (Matlabas) are

Extra
mattresses in all camps
Only a certain number of mattresses are available in each rest
camp. Some camps do not allow this facility at all (e.g. Pretoriuskop).
Those that do are dealt out on a first come first serve basis. For
example Shingwedzi has
only 15 mattresses. Clients should rather take their own, in case there
are none available.
