Pretoriuskop Restcamp - Kruger National Park:

Location: Pretoriuskop Restcamp is situated in the south-western part of the Kruger National Park only 9 km from Numbi Gate.

Description:The camp lies in a hilly region with many interesting, picturesque rocky outcrops. Rare species like sable and rhino may be sighted in this area as well as the more prolific species such as impala, zebra and wildebeest.

Several historic places, such as the Voortrekker road, the birthplace of Jock of the Bushveld and the Albasini ruins are within a short drive from the camp. The first tourist hut in the park, the Wolhuter, is found in this camp.

Doherty Bryant Boma

Facilities (9 persons)

Three separate air-conditioned bedrooms, each with a bathroom en suite (bath, toilet and basin) as well as an open veranda with a small refrigerator. One bedroom has one double bed and one single bed and the others have three single beds in each.
The central diningroom and kitchen are on the open veranda. The kitchen is equipped with an electric stove (with oven), refrigerator, sink, cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery. The whole complex is surrounded by a reed boma. There is a central barbecue area and an outdoor shower.

Pierre Joubert Guesthouse

Facilities (8 persons)

Four identical sleeping units (two persons per unit). Each unit has an air-conditioned bedroom with two single beds, a bathroom (bath, shower, toilet and basin) and a lounge.
The central recreation area consists of a lounge/diningroom with an open veranda and patio and a lookout above the patio. Kitchen with electric stove (with oven), refrigerator, sink, cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery. Toilet and basin. The lounge/diningroom has ceiling fans.

  • Four-bed cottages with two bedrooms (each with air-conditioning and three single beds) with one bathroom (bath and toilet), refrigerator and veranda. Cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery are not provided.
  • Two-bed huts with air-conditioning, shower, toilet, refrigerator, a two-plate stove (without oven), and sink. Cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery are not provided. One hut has been adapted for handicapped persons.
  • Two-bed and four-bed huts have air-conditioning, shower, toilet and refrigerator. Cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery are not provided.
  • Two-bed, three-bed, five-bed and six-bed huts with air-conditioning, communal ablution facilities, wash basin and refrigerator but without veranda. Cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery are not provided.
  • Two-bed huts with wash basin and communal ablution facilities but no air-conditioning, veranda or refrigerator. Cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery are not provided.

Orpen is in a summer rainfall area. Such precipitation is usually convectional and can result in heavy downpours. The summer months (October to April) are hot and sometimes balmy. Winters are warm and mild, although visitors going on night-drives will require warm clothing.
