Guests to Pilanesberg National Park will enjoy a diverse array of adventure activities. These include game drives in open game vewing vehicles, nature walks in self guide trails and prime bird viewing in tranquil havens. Children under the age of 12 years are not allowed on game drives, however they can delight in a number of other fun activities.
Science Safaris: scientific / veterinary safaris are where clients are actively involved in the immobilization and translocation of elephants, rhino, lion etc. The South African Science and Veterinary Safari Guide gives a good idea of what one can expect.
Balloon Safari: Ballooning over the Pilanesberg National Park's valleys is a magical experience. Offered daily in the morning, depending on the weather and number of passengers. N.B. The rendezvous with the balloon crew is before sunrise!
Flights are approximately an hour's duration and on landing sparkling wine is served. A leisurely game drive is then taken through the park to a game lodge where breakfast is served.
Game Walks: For the 3 to 4 hour hiking trails, visitors will depart early in the morning driving deep into the Pilanesberg National Park. Here visitors, with the help of an experienced guide, will get close to nature. Group size is restricted to a minimum 4 people and a maximum of 10. Children under 14 years of age are not allowed.

Pilanesberg Elephant-Back Safaris: Tourists staying in the Pilanesberg National Park area can join Chikwenya, Shari, Mana, Sapi and Michael at their home in the Letsatsing Game Reserve for a unique and extraordinary African adventure -- a game viewing experience with a difference! In 2002 the Elephants were brought to Pilanesberg by Elephant Back Safaris Victoria Falls. They were orphans and trained from the age of about 2 years old. The Letsatsing Game Reserve is only 20 minutes from Sun City.
Scheduled elephant-back safaris run daily, promising visitors much more than just a game-viewing experience, but a closer insight into the world’s largest mammal, the African Elephant.
Elephant Back Safaris: Scheduled trips leave from the Welcome Desk, Sun City. Guests are transferred to the “Elephant Wallow” where they are met by experienced Elephant Guides, who will host them on their safari. This elephant experience takes approximately 3 hours. Light snacks are served on “The Wallow” terrace after the safari. Return transfer is back to the Welcome Centre.
Elephant Interaction: Guests are transferred to “The Elephant Wallow” from the Welcome Desk, Sun City. Experienced guides will host visitors through and elephant interaction where guests are encouraged to touch, feed, photograph and learn more about these amazing animals. This activity takes approximately 1 hour. Return transfer is back to the Welcome Centre.
