Pilanesberg is located in the North West Province of South Africa, some 150 kilometres north west of Johannesburg and 60 kilometres north of Rustenburg. Although road routes to the Pilanesberg National Park are numerous, the most popular route takes the R512 road that passes through the Hartebeespoort Dam region.
On Route to the Pilanesberg National Park one can visit numerous attractions such as The Cradle of Humankind, the Magaliesberg mountains, Hartebeespoort Dam, The De Wildt Cheetah Research Station, the Margaret Roberts Herbal Centre and the Sun City Complex with its own beach and waves, two internationally-renowned golf courses, casinos and myriad other forms of entertainment.

Gauteng to Manyane & Bakgatla:
The 4th intersection from the N4 is the Northam / Rustenburg 4 way stop intersection (R510) turn right and travel ± 30km. Turn left after Mogwase Industrial area which will be on your left hand side. Turn right at 2nd intersection just before the // garage and then left at sign indicating Manyane Gate.
To Bakgatla: Pass the entrance to Manyane gate continue until reaching a T-junction. Turn left. Road sign indicating Bakgatla Gate / George Steggman Hospital. Carry on straight till reaching the Bakgatla entrance gate. Donkeys, goats and lots of children - do 60km/h where it is stated.
Manyane & Bakgatla to Gauteng:
At the first intersection (garage) turn left to Rustenburg, not straight into Mogwase or right to Sun City. Then at the 2nd intersection, turn right to Rustenburg, and 30 km's further, turn left at the next intersection.
Johannesburg & Pretoria to Bakubung:
Pass the 4th intersection from the N4, pass Sun City, pass the sun village and take it slow now as it is only 2-3 km. Turn right at the Ledig Township -- the first tar road -- watch out for donkeys, goats and lots of children -- do 60km/h! The Bakubung gate is only 3 km from the Ledig Township and the Bakubung Resort is to the left.
