Amphibians of the Southern Drakensberg KwaZulu Natal South Africa

Frogs are the only Amphibian species found in the Southern Drakensberg region of KwaZulu Natal. Approximately 25 frog species occur in the Southern Drakensberg -- a little more than a third of the 85 frog species in Southern Africa. The area includes the southern section of the uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Park.

The habitat range of the Southern Drakensberg's frog species is restricted to areas below 2200m ASL. Frogs are found in and around the streams, rivers, dams, tarn lakes forests and rocky grasslands.
